Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail MBCNA Hike
January 22, 2011
Note early start time!!****9:00 AM****Note early start time!!

The Place

The Old Customs House

We will be walking the beautiful Monterey Bay trail. This walk is enjoyed by thousands of people each year and is an ideal hike to stretch your legs during the Monterey Bay NA convention. During our walk we will see much wildlife including sealions, harbor seals, birds of varying kinds (pelicans, gulls and more), otters and if we are lucky dolphins and whales. (a good idea to bring binoculars if you have them).

Walking the Walk

We will meet shortly before 9:00 am about 25 feet directly across the entrance from Fisherman’s Wharf, at the Custom House (It is an old white building with a huge iron anchor in front of it)

As with all our hikes, we will begin promptly at 10am. We will be walking the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail from the Wharf to Lovers Point Park where we will have our meeting. This is a flat hike, mostly asphalt trail, and if you haven’t been on one of our hikes yet, this is a great one to start out on. We share the trail with other walkers, the occasional runner, cyclists, and folks walking their dogs. If the weather is nice and tide low, we will have our meeting at the beach, if not, at the park in a somewhat sheltered spot.

If you arrive after the 9:00 am start time, Follow the signs west for the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail (toward the aquarium and cannery row)
