Hoffman Creek Trailhead

Pescadero, Memorial, Sam McDonald, and Heritage Grove County Parks are all part of San Mateo County’s remote, redwood-blanketed Pescadero Creek Complex. The parks’ interconnected trail system provides some very nice hiking, mostly in second-growth forests, but with a few patches of old growth. The complex doesn’t have any really spectacular sights, but its lush, green woodland is remarkably quiet, with little or no traffic noise on most trails and relatively few visitors. We will be hiking the Pescadero Creek and Brook Trail Loop from the Hoffman Creek Trailhead in Loma Mar.

The Hike

Hike Details: We will be hiking the Pescadero Creek and Brook Trail Loop. The incline is steady throughout the first half of the loop, and we will be meeting/lunching at a picnic area at the top and just past the halfway point of the loop. No amenities available at the trailhead or on the loop, but there are restrooms available in the Wurr Flat Group Campground if needed before we head out of the parking area or upon our return.

Directions from San Jose to Hoffman Creek Trailhead, 1400 Wurr Rd, Loma Mar, CA 94021: Take I-280 N, Take exit 16 for El Monte Rd, Take the ramp to Foothill College/Moody Rd/El Monte W, Merge onto El Monte Rd, Turn left onto Moody Rd, Turn left onto Page Mill Rd, Continue onto Alpine Rd, Turn right to stay on Alpine Rd, Continue straight onto Pescadero Creek Rd, Sharp left to stay on Pescadero Creek Rd, Turn left onto Wurr Rd, Destination will be on the left. From Santa Cruz: Take 1 N, Turn right onto Pescadero Creek Rd, Turn right onto Wurr Rd, Destination will be on the left.
